Art 1 Value/Shading Project

This project in Art 1 was an important experience for me. We were given the assignment to create a still life image and use value and shading within the piece. When I first heard about this assignment I got very worried. I am not much of an artist and I have never enjoyed art. Overall this project helped me grow in confidence in art and see that drawing can actually be fun. Though I struggled with drawing the image some, the hardest thing for me was to actually sit down and start. Once I began and had a posative attitude about the project I did a relatively good job. For me at least it was a personal victory and expanded my veiw on art.

In this project I used two different qualities to be successful. These qualities were persistence and creativity. I used persistence by pushing through my own self doubts and mistakes I made in practicing for this project and creating something I could be proud of. It has always been hard for me to be creative in anything. In this art project I used creativity in almost every aspect of the project. I had to decide where I should shade and what should be left blank, what my main focus in the drawing was, and where I wanted to cut off the objects with the edge of the paper. Overall I am very happy with how the piece turned out and the now better outlook I have for art.
