Chinese Teacher Project
In Chinese class, we were studying basic classroom expressions. These expressions are words/phrases that are vital for basic communication and learning in a Chinese class. Phrases such as "I don't understand" and "please repeat that" In order to demonstrate that we understood them and knew how to use them in a sentence we did the Chinese Teacher Project.
In this project, a group of four of us had to create a script, refine/edit the script, and preform a skit with the skit we created. We recorded our skit four times (so all of us could be the teacher) and uploaded them to YouTube. The script had to include at least 20 dialogues or at least 40 sentences. Every person in the group had to have a speaking part in the skit. We all participated in the video and worked together to produce each video. This helped us improve our collaboration skills.
In this project I had to collaborate with my group. My biggest struggle in this project was working with my group. We did a great job coming up with the script and editing it, but when it came time to actually preforming the skit, we ran into some problems. My group wanted to keep pushing the day we were going to record back. I was prepared to record on the day we decided, which meant that I knew every part of the skit. The rest of my group wanted to wait another day. This was very frustrating for me. Eventually we were able to record after talking to my teacher.
Another way I grew in collaboration through this project was to give my best no matter what. Even after the extra time to memorize, each of my group members only memorized one student part and the teacher part, while I memorized the three student parts and the teacher part.
Although this experience was difficult, I definitely grew in my understanding of collaboration. I must try and work no matter how difficult it is. The only person I can control is myself, so I know that I must try to give my best for each group project.
Collaboration is simply working with other people towards a goal. This could be in a project, on a sports team, or anything that involves a group of people. If you would like to learn more about my personal experience with collaboration click here.
Overall it turned out very well. Our teacher decided to use our videos as the example to other teachers in different schools interested in this project. This made me very proud of all the work I had done.
